Robotic Missions in Sun-Earth Space - Nasa's Science Goals

The vast majority of all robotic spacecraft are operated by NASA, under the agency's space science enterprise.

This enterprise focuses on six areas of research:

  • The origins of life and the universe
  • The existence of life on other planets
  • The formation of stars and galaxies
  • The evolution of the solar system and the universe
  • The mechanisms of life
  • The relationship between matter and energy

NASA's Office of Space Science (OSS) oversees a number of programs and individual projects that utilize robotic missions to pursue these research goals.
